ABOUT THE PROJECT
The repair cafe was set up in Custom House, East London in collaboration with CIVIC. In September 2020 we worked with a group of locals with sewing skills to offer free repairs to people living in the area. This was a drop in service and it allowed local people to have minor repairs done whilst a majority of the local laundrettes and dry cleaners were closed due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Repairs included sewing on buttons, fixing holes and adjusting sizes. Sewing machines were laid out for people to learn how to repair.
